About Stella Quinn

stella quinn headshot.jpg

When Stella Quinn isn’t sitting in the sun scribbling in a notebook, she can be found walking her dog, roaming her neighbourhood in search of the perfect latte, or thrashing her children at scrabble. She grew up in England, Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea and Australia, and spent five (long!) years at boarding school in country Queensland.

Stella writes contemporary romance novels that are warm-hearted and filled with characters you want to be best friends with. She loves rural small-town settings, island settings, and everyday heroes. Imagine if Sea Change and Virgin River had a series of fictitious bookbabies ... they’re the books Stella writes.

She has four rural fiction novels published by Harper Collins HQ Fiction imprint, and another two under contract that she is currently working on.

Her indie series include The Island Escape Series, (on sale now)  and The Matchmakes of Lighthouse Cove Series (manuscripts underway), and she has written novellas for Harper Collins HQ Fiction anthologies A Country Vet Christmas (2023) and A Country Farm Christmas (2024).

Stella Quinn’s awards in the fabulous world of storytelling include winning the Valerie Parv Award in 2018, winning the Sapphire Award in 2019 and 2020, winning the Emerald Award in 2017 and coming second in the Sapphire in 2018. Stella was shortlisted in the Australian Society of Authors/HQ Fiction Commercial Fiction Award in 2020, and in the 2020 Ruby Award for best contemporary romance. She has been a finalist in ARRA romance awards in 2019, 2021, and Runner Up for Favourite Contemporary Romance Novel in 2022 and 2023. In 2023 she is a first round finalist in Booktopia's FAB Favourite Book Awards, and placed Third in the 2023 Ruby Award for best contemporary romance novella.

Under a different name, she has been the recipient of a mentorship in writing for middle grade at Varuna, awarded by Affirm Press, and she has been a finalist in the Ampersand Prize for children's fiction, awarded by Hardie Grant Egmont. She has also won the Scarlet Stiletto's Domestic Malice award for a crime story, with the prize sponsored by Kerry Greenwood, author of the marvelous Phryne Fisher mystery series.
